FAQ

Lock-up (pre-plaster) inspections in Kalkallo: common questions

What is the point of a lock-up inspection?

It is the last look inside the walls. Services, bracing, noggings and flashings are all checked before plaster covers them.

Do you check the electrical work?

We note visible clearance problems such as cables against pipes. We do not test or certify wiring; that is for a licensed electrician.

Why does cut bracing matter?

Bracing resists wind load on the house. A cut brace has to be repaired or replaced to the bracing design.

Are frame items checked again?

Yes. Anything from the frame report that is still open is listed again.

What standards apply at lock-up?

AS 1684, AS 4773 for masonry, the National Construction Code and the Guide to Standards and Tolerances 2015.

How long does it take?

Around one and a half to two hours on a typical double storey home.
